History of the Foundation and the Founder:

The Founder of YES YOU CAN is Dan Gardner.  He created this non-profit based on his own experience of growing up with challenges and obstacles, and eventually overcoming those adversities.

"For me the story of overcoming my adversity and challenges I faced as a kid started in grade school when I was told by my community choir director that I could not sing!  Hearing this message caused me to struggle with low self esteem.  Thankfully, later on in high school a teacher encouraged me to try singing again.  Many successes later, I realized the power of both the community choir director and my high school teachers’ words - both positive and negative.  That one simple sentence from a teacher took my life in a totally new direction.  What if that high school teacher was not there to encourage me? YES YOU CAN! is that lasting encouragement that will truly make a difference in a child's life.  We let them know that anything can be overcome and that your greatest struggle may lead you to your greatest gift.  The impact of hearing this message and seeing the living proof in me and other members of YES YOU CAN! is very powerful to these kids.  They carry the YES YOU CAN! message with them the rest of their lives."

Dan Gardner captured the hearts of millions when Today Show viewers voted him “Today’s Superstar” in the highly rated television program’s Music Icon talent search series. Thousands of hopefuls audition and millions of viewers watched and voted weekly. This competition, created by American Idol Executive Producers, Warner Brother Records, and the Today Show launched Gardner's career in television, radio, and the concert stage. He has released two albums and his hit single "More than Life" shot up to #12 on the Adult Contemporary Top 40.
YES YOU CAN! is working with schools and kid focused community organizations. Our organization has received very positive responses.  We see the positive impact it has on kids and so do the schools and communities that we partner with.
